02 F250

I am getting ready for winter here in Northern Ohio. I have read many posts on here and have gained a lot of knowledge. I have read the posts here about tires and such, but I have a few questions, on my 02 F250, I currently have 265/75/16 steeltex's, I am looking to go up a size or 2 but don't want to rub. I was thinking 295/75/16's will these rub on a stock truck? Also I was looking for affordable tires, maybe the General Grabbers or Nitto Terra Grapplers. I know everyone has an opinion, but I'd like to hear from real world users/owners. I want an agressive looking tire thats good in the snow yet not unbearably noisey. Thoughts and opinions welcome. Thanks for all the past info.

That size is a very odd one and hard to find. IMO, and having 305/70r16's 285/75's are probably the way to go on factory wheels. The 305's are too wide for a 7 inch factory wheel. Some/many have run them, but I really don't feel it's a good combination.

The 285 is the same height as the 305 so appearance will be similar. My truck sits a little higher than factory, with 350 blocks in the back and leveled up front (by default, long story). So figure it's 2 inches taller than stock. The 305's will hit the springs under extreme maneuvers.

I've been considering the 295/75/16 Terra Grapplers myself and run them on the stock 7" rims. Both the 285's and 295's list a 7.5" rim minimum, so I think they would be OK. If you go with the 295's post up some pics.

I have narrowed my choices down to the Terra Grapplers and Maxxis Bighorn M/Ts. I was hoping to get some feedback as to whether the 295's would/will rub. I would like to go with them but will go with the 285's to prevent rubbing, not sure how to make sure other than other people's real world experience.

I run the 285-bfg at-and they fit good on the factory wheel, but I think a 16x8 wheel would be a better fit.

I put 285 75 16 on my '02 F250 ..... Goodyear Silent Armor Pro Grade.

If I remember right, the truck came with the Snow Plow Mount option .... something like that ... which raised the front end an inch or so. But, now, the truck is sagging a bit in the front ... so I would say its back to stock.

Anyway ..... only when hitting a rut, etc while in an extreme turn ... will I feel a rub just a bit. Can barely perceive any tire wear from it.

I would have no problem getting this size again. (I did buy wider rims for it .... I'm **** about such things)

Good luck.

What year? Stock suspension with no lift? I'd really like to go with the 295's but don't want the rubbing.

I've decided on the 285's partly because I don't want any rubbing and the fact I have the stock 16x7 rims. That being said, I have to decide between my final two tire choices, the Nitto Terra Grappler and Firestone Destination A/T's. I've done a ton of reading, I really liked the Maxxis Big Horns but seems they wear rather quick. I hear some wear issues with the Grapplers as well but others say they last forever. I can get a good price on the Firestones and they are rated high as well. Dropping about $750 I am hoping to get at least 35-40,000 miles out of them. Tirerack.com has the Firestones rated very high, I think I like the "look" of the Grapplers better but they both look pretty similar. Any F250 owners with knowledge of these two in real world driving conditions and wear?
