I just had my recently restored 65 totaled (nice face lift given to me by a guy driving 50+ in a residential neighborhood). The frame is a little messed up. It was a long bed, I am having trouble finding another to use as a donor and/or new project with using current parts truck. What is the difference, if any, between a long bed frame and a short bed frame? is the only difference the length of the bed?
the frames tend to differ about 2-3 ft between the cab and rear wheels, the last bit , after the wheels, is almost always the same. shortning a frame is pretty easy, and so is lengthining one, so long as you have the steel to mesh up inbetween, boxing this part of the frame is a good idea at this point so you don't have to worry about the welds breaking from over stressing them, depending on the truck, there may be small differences when it comes to mounting a bed (like a bracket sticking up to far, or being in the wrong place) but givin an afternoon dedicated to sorting all this out its a pretty easy straight forward project to get everything as it should be. Anothing thing worth thinking about is making a whole new frame for the truck, which is what I'm doing out of tube steel on an '84 to get it lower to the ground as well as giving a strudy starting point for a four link front and back ect ect... hope this helps...

ibw, You need a lwb chassis from 65-72 F100 or 250 all same as far as you need. Go 73-79 and it will come with power steering and power disc brakes. The cab/front clip is bolt up exchange with the bed area rails 4" longer and wider. I would think you should be able to find good metal in AZ.
