If anyone is interested in putting together a couple of runs for the 2002 season, let me know. I never find any events close to the central Texas area except for the Houston area. I would like to run throught small rural communities and national pparks to see the real Texas not just the fair grounds of a car show.

I would be interested in helping put on a run. I live in the Dallas area. Never have put one together, but have always wanted too. I did help run a show with Paradise Minis back in the day. We had McDonald's and Truckin' Magazine there taking pics.

I never hosted any type of event either. We have a local "car club" that gathers on Wednesday nights in a different parking lot town each week. Unfortunatly, it usually brings in the young heavy footed types who have to do 10 minute burnouts, activate hydraulic seesaws, put people in dancing beds, crank up loud stereos, and buy/sell drugs. I quit going about 10 years ago because of these guys. I'd rather walk around and discuss the finer parts of detailing, customizing, refurbishing, and good old fashioned American inginuity. And when the discussion turns hot cuz his is better than mine, we take it to a old farm to market road 20 miles out of town and run the 1/4 from a DEAD STOP, not these wimpy rolling 30 mph starts.

I'd like to see a large gathering of Ford trucks here in central Texas like they have up north . There never seems to be any large-scale, national types of events like the Goodguys and such either.

Where do you live. We can always search the web for other ford or classic clubs and start our own. Also, check the magazines like Truckin'. In the back they have a listing of shows or rallies (at least they used to) that readers submit. Any other ideas?

Here's an idea for Y'all -

In the Tennessee chapter, I just added an "Anchored" topic for folks to list off road areas and trails that they know of, and directions to get to 'em.

It's kind of basic to owning a truck that 2 or 4 wheel drive, we all like to go off road once in a while, so I thought state directories of "Fun Zones" would be a heck of an idea. How 'bout you?

(Dang, you boys are growin' fast... I'm gonna have to keep the hammer down. >=op )

How about a summer run down to New Braunfels. Those with kiddos/families could visit the Schlitterbahn water slide, etc. plus there is also tubing in the river. Maybe one of you guys near there could scope out a spot?
An idea for a fall run is Octoberfest at Washington on the Brazos. Real small town Octoberfest, plus its the birthplace of our great state. Lots of rural, small towns nearby for a road run, too.
Just a thought.

Oh yeah, I'm in Lubbock...but not afraid of taking the red mule on long road trips (90 F150 Supercab)...150K and just gettin' warmed up!!!

If you wanted to come out west, our local classics club has a spring/summer get together. It's a fair piece to drive, but plenty to see...and its the birthplace of Buddy Holly. Please, no puns about "That'll be the day."

New Braunfels would be a great idea!!! Also, I was in Waco with Paradise Mini's many years ago. There they had the Mini Truck Nationals. It was on the grounds that houses the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame I think. Great spot to have a show or a run. Great restaurants, great strip to cruise and not too far from Austin's Famed 6th street either.
Let's start planning this thing now. This year my truck may not be ready (running) but next year for sure.
All the places mentioned are fabulous. New Braunfels, Shiner would be good too, Waco and Austin. Anyone think about North Texas area too. We have several towns that would love to host a show or a run. Great place to bring the whole family. Wet n wild, six flags, rangers game etc...

I agree, anywhere in the state would be great! I particularly like the Austin are around Lake Travis for a nice long drive.

If everyone is interested in it, then let's start planning now. First let's all vote on a location or area. I vote for central texas, New Braunfels, Austin and Waco. Once we have place voted on, we need to set the date. I say late this year, like the last run of the season or make it one of the first of next season. Let's go...

I don't know if the polls have opened yet, but I cast my vote for New Braunfels as my first choice. Austin would be a close second and Waco third.

What would be the agenda for such a get together? We need to hurry and get this together if it's going to happen, the 45 day window is getting shorter by the day. Not sure how much is left actually. And although I intend on becoming a memeber, finances are just too tight right now. So if I get locked out soon somebody e-mail me at batman_josh(No Email Addresses In Posts!) to let me know what's up. Thanks.

Ok, since the motion has has been made, I second and offer three choices:
1. New Braunfels
2. Austin
3. Waco

Cast your vote for the city of choice along with a date. At the end of the month, I will tally up the votes and post here for the rest of you. Once we have a location and date, we can decide on exctly what we want to do.
Since the Chapter will be locked by March 5th, post it while you can. I will post the results here.

If needed, E-mail me Krosati(No Email Addresses In Posts!) .
