I got my hybrids for less than $2300, and I'm running a van turbo (~$900 into it, and stocker sold off to partially finance it). It can be done for less, for sure. non-hybrid Singles are even less $$$ and get you a nice bump in power too (and probably more "compatible" with the van turbo).
Eddie: I haven't dyno'ed yet. I'm going on the math right now. Guys with smaller sticks are at or over 400, so I'm sure I am. One of the other guys running a very similar setup dynoed ~425ish.
425hp on a Van turbo? I didn't realize those turbos have that kinda potential. That has to be tearing that turbo apart! What is your boost backpressure?
Thats basiclly what I was trying to say with my post. lol
Yep, that's why I quoted ya, I concur!
Joe, I agree with you that injectors and turbo can make a big difference on our trucks, both power and mileage, I've got them both. But for another $3k, I'm hesitant to recommend someone to do that who has a basically stock truck to start with. A lot of fuel can be bought for $3k. After he does the "basics" and has PMS, then we spend all his money for him!

Less than 2:1... I'm making 35psi, and BP is 45-50. A little high, no doubt. Stock wheel with ATS ported housing. Jeremy (JTHarvey) was running B-Codes & big oil on his with the same setup, before his FORGED engine blew and he de-stroked. And no, that doesn't make me feel all that great about it. LOL
EDIT: Adam -- I agree. The OP mentioned injectors, so that's why I followed up. There are a lot of things that have to happen first IMHO too.
hmm.. well thank you very much Joe... Perhaps that cummins convo is closer than I thought.. Dad would be very unhappy to now hear I'm considering upgrading nozzles on the work truck haha

Oh I see I thought you may have actually been on the dyno since your upgrade. Your math seems good to me I would think you should be around 420hp as long as the turbo holds. I know some with the van turbo at the 420-425 mark also.
I got my hybrids for a good deal but I traded in a set of 8 month old 175/146 SS for them, and the 38R for $1090 so it does cost to go up to 400hp but to me it was worth it

160cc singles are what, AC codes?? Is that what you're running now?
I just ordered a 6637 from Clay and I am just starting the mod process, looking to do exhaust and a dp tune. I also have a 7.3 X and will be towing a 7K # TT. With 4" exhaust with the TT in tow be extremely loud while going down the road? I need the larger exhaust for the tune, I just don't want the constant wine from X or my wife.
If you are looking to go the cheapest route available, you can do a muffler delete.
Im currently running one until I can convince my wife that the truck needs a 5"...
I have a link somewhere, runs about $80 shipped IIRC.
Took maybe 10 minutes with a tape measure and a sawsall...
