One final comment:
When you do this mod, take care to get that white foam insulation back into place properly. Apparently mine was off somewhat from when I opened it up to fill the tranny from the top with synthetic oil.
I was shocked at the difference in the amount of noise (much less!) that was coming up through the shifter boot when I put it back together properly.
Never even realized it at the time I did it wrong, but boy could I tell the difference when I put it back right!
I think he is talking about the white piece under the black accordian boot. If you don't cover the hole properly with it, sound from the engine and trans will come in through the floor board.
Yeah-that piece of white foam. Big difference.
I am all for hearing the sound of the engine, but I also don't think I should have to have the radio turned up to "11" to be able to hear it!
