Converting my 51 to 12 volts with 12 volt gauges. Fuel gauge came with sender. My problem is the sender and adapter only goes one way as far as mounting screws and that puts the float arm at a position where it hits the side of the stock tank. I need the float arm running towards the driver side not the back of the truck. I don't see how I can bend the float arm and have it work. Any advice?? Thanks Pete
Drugs, liquor, wild woman, contact the manufacture and see if they make a reversed float arm sender, cut the rivets(?) off where the sender mounts to the plate rotate and re-attach with machine screws?
Hey OLD? Does this count as the sender question of the week? Maybe but at least its a variation on the theme.

.....Or make an adapter plate out of a piece of sheet metal. It would be like a donut. You would drill holes in it that are aligned with the sender, countersink them on the bottom, glue and bolt the sender to the adapter using flat head bolts up from the bottom - nuts on top.
Then redrill the mounting holes through BOTH the sender and adapter where your mounting screws need to go (hint: gasket makes a good template to mark screw positions) to screw into the tank. Use a regular gasket between the tank and the adapter ring.
Thanks Old f1 & Julie. I called a machinist friend. One look no problem. He is going to machine the adapter tomorrow. By the way Julie I am almost through converting to 12 volts. Your wiring diagrams are a big help.
