I ordered a new fuel tank for my 88 Bronco about a year ago and purchased a new fuel sender as well. My Bronco has the fuel pump on the rail with a small pump on the sender as well, 2in hole. Tank has been fine but my fuel gauge has been acting odd ever since. I drive it occasionally and since it had some old gas in the tank I decided to pull it Friday evening and drained it and pulled the sender to check it out. I hooked the sender back up to the three prong plug so I could mess with the float and see what it was reading. When I did it turns out that E (empty) reads as F (Full) and vice versa. I took a look at the sender thinking you could obviosly just swap it over but the mount for the sender is welded to the pickup tube?
I thought about odering a new sender but when I look at them online they look identical to this one the only question is are they on the inside? Is it possible that I ordered a pickup for another year? anybody know a fix short of grinding off the plate and welding on the other side? Now I wish I had kept the old sender to compare.
