1995 F250 7.3 diesel with 208k miles. She runs good, but she will turn off (engine shuts down) every once in a while and only once per trip.<O:p</O:p 1. Morning, not cold or any rain. She started right up let her warm up about 5 minutes and went 5 blocks when she shut down. Coasted to curb and she started right away, and didn't do it again that day.<O:p</O:p 2. Been driving her all day, about 5pm, I stopped and got back in drove about a 1/4 mile and once again she shut down, put her in neutral and started it right away and didn't have a problem that day again.<O:p</O:p 3. Was driving up to for about 90 miles and then she shut down in the freeway, the cruise control was on, I put her in neutral and started with not further problem.<O:p</O:p 4. I have recently discovered that if I keep my foot on the accelerator she will only give a brief hiccup and continue to run like a charm.<O:p</O:p I am guessing what it is the eng kill what-ever. I don't know about truck diesel engines. I am very familiar with <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:pDetroit</ST1:p 71 types and ALCO diesel.<O:p</O:p </O:p Anyone have a clue?<O:p</O:p Thanks s/Bill<O:p</O:p
It is on the front bottom left side as you're looking at the engine from the grill. it has two wires going to it. It takes a 10mm wrench and a screw driver to change. Buy two and keep one in the glove box along with the tools to change it. They can quit on you in less than five minutes. LOL.
Just one of the weak points of our motors Chuck362. Thanks cowmilker08 but it was my 65 Falcon that was fast, get it, oldbird? I'm no spring chicken either.
