Alrights, folks, how 'bout sharing some of that local info? Anyone know of any salvage yards in and around Tennessee with a decent stock of old Ford trucks?
In particular, I'm looking for something near Memphis with a couple of good 67-69 trucks. The ones I've checked out so far don't have much, and what they do have has long since been picked clean of decent parts. I'd kill for a clean 8 foot styleside Ranger bed for my '69, especially if it had the fuel filler for a frame mounted tank.
Don't forget about Arkansas too, there's probably quite a few in West Memphis...
You might try looking along highway 51, up around Atoka and Covington. There's a lot of scrapyards along there, and you never know what you'll find.
I could swear I found a real good big one over in Hardeman county too - somewhere around Bolivar and Whiteville. As I remember it they had about ten acres of cars and trucks, many of them fords. I found it while looking for a heater control for a Zephyr a few years back.
Anyone been out that way? I recall it was near a mental hospital (no doubt for the people who were looking for Chevy parts) near there.
I tell ya what, I've had more luck at yards out in the country a few miles than anywhere else!
I've been to one in West Memphis. It's right along the river below the old bridge. Lots of junk and not much else. I'm hoping someone actually knows of a place that has a bunch of old Ford trucks. I've got a job, a house, and a two year old, so I don't get much time to go searching for parts. I've wasted two precious Saturdays already driving all over the midsouth visiting salvage yards with nothing but junk in them.
soon as the rain stops, I will run over to Boliva and look see if I can't find the place, and tell you what they have in there, I am only just up the road from there, maybe 20 miles..

I found a searchable website that has a lot of listings in Tennessee, and took a partial look at it. It gives phone numbers and E-mail addresses, so you can find out what they have before you burn any gas or time going to look at them.
Karlsd,I'm not sure of any junk yards but i have a '68/'69 in my yard i want to get rid of.The doors have been changed so im not sure of the exact year. The body is pretty good,no engine,no trans, and chunk is out of rear axle.Truck has a fair step-side bed.If you have a trailer and don't mind driving about 4 hours to Columbus,Missippi you can have it for $400.00,you can sell the bed and parts you don't need and recover your expense.Email me ronnienewman@cableone.net if you or any one else is interested.I know where some others are also.I'm working on a '53 and don't need any '68/'69stuff.
Thanks but no. I'm willing to buy a parts truck, but only if it is pretty complete with the things on my wish list. That wish list includes a straight styleside long bed with the filler for a frame mounted fuel tank.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-Mar-02 AT 10:50 PM (EST)]you might want to try Dixonville Autoparts (835-2780) they are between Millingotn and Drummonds. They have the most pre-75 stuff in the area. I know they have at least 8-10 67-72 Ford pickups. Not sure if they have a good long bed though. Also Crosstown Service Station, they are located on 51 highway in Atoka,(837-8873)talk to Paul McDaniel, He may still have a 72 LWB that he will part out, it was white, no motor or trans.
Alos A1 Auto Salvage on 51 in Between Millington and Munford. Talk to Gary (837-2222) I got a nice hood from there off a 72-71 F100, had good inner fenders also (already painted gloss black) I think the radiator support was good too!
If you are looking for anything in particular I may be able to help, let me know!
Hope this helps
Hey, thanks! That's exactly the kind of info I was looking for. I really do want to find a 67-69 bed, though, as they are different from the 70-72 beds.
The rear bed corners are different. As you mentioned, the 70-72 beds have side marker lights installed in holes in the rear corners. The 67-69 beds have reflectors surface mounted lower on the rear corner. The bedside trim strips are different, too.
hey I don't need nobody kilt but I have 2 trucks a68 F100 Ranger with 8' stealside bed possably a bad 3 speed and about a perfect rust free body good 360 engine new kingpins and a smoked clutch. The other is a 70 F250 Camper spichel 4speed 390 engine and a fair body power steering power brakes the rear end is in pices every thing is there except one bearing and the cluster caps I am just not able to work on them anymore.
