Salvage Yard in the Dallas, Houston, SA Austin area

Hey, any of you guys know of a good salvage yard in these areas and especially ones that cater to old trucks. Thanks
Ed

I have a 1954 ford f-100 and that is what I need parts for. However I live in the Houston area and I would like to find a 292 or 312 and that failing I want a 351 or a 4.6 DOHC. Ok so I nver said I was going to be easy. Ed

What about the big one in south Austin, the one that's off I-35? I've gotten some good deals there, and saw lots of older stuff last time I was there. That was close to 5 years ago. Have things changed?

Honestly I've never heard of that one. I live north of Austin and dont like to go more south than Pflugerville unless I have to. I hate Austin and keep away as much as possible.

Although I did go to the Republic of Texas biker rally this weekend!
Bikes, friends, food, beer, biker chicks with wet tshirts. Does life get any better?

You dog. My bum was still too sore from my ride down to Florida last week or I would have been there. I guess my new seat did not do the job I expected. After 10 hours in the saddle I was singing soprano. Thanks for the locals guys. Any names would be appreciated. I have found one in the Dallas area that for sure has old cars and trucks. Ed

Next Time I go past it or it maybe a bit far for you. But Just North of Denton on I-35 by the 1/8th mile Drag strip there is a yard full of old cars and trucks. I keep meaning to stop and look on my way by, But i'm usually pressed for time. If you do go with a 351. I've got a good 351w and C6 tranny I've been thinking about letting go cheap. Thats with everything bolted to the Motor.

That sounds good but I am trying to get that AOD setup. Is your engine a EFI? Ed

Well if you get the chance, head on down to south Austin to check out that yard. It'll be on the right side of I-35 while you're heading south, directly on the other side of the access road so you can't miss it. Last time I was there they had at least 15 '67-'72 models there. Granted that was 5 years ago but there's probably still a great selection out there!

I paid $70 or $75 for an almost new looking bed shell, and maybe $5 for a new turn signal stalk and rear side marker lenses. I'm still on the lookout for a few other small parts but with starting the new job on the 14th and moving to the house in San Antonio on the 25th -27th my days are packed. I'm just hoping I have the chance to go knock on somebody's door in town - there's an old house at the end of a street in town that's been empty for a long time and I'm not sure if it's owned by the people next door or nobody at all. I'd like to save the doors from that place before it falls down and I plan on asking the people next door if they know who owns it or would mind parting with the doors. I'm learning how to fix up and finish old stuff like that.

I'll keep my eye's peeled for motor setups your looking for. I've got a 351 MAF EFI from a 95 F150 to swap in place of my 302 SD EFI in my 86 F150. I'm always out catting around looking for deals I can't pass up. Like the Carb.'d 351/C6 I've. It's in a well cared for 76 Van, I got it real cheap for parts and had to haul it off that day or no deal. They told me it had a 351m/400 in it, Since i was pressed on time moving it I didn't pull the cover to see what was really in it. I wanted a 351m/400 for a back-up for my 78 F150 4x4 and 79 Bronco so I was let down to see a 351w in it. But was screwed price wise ether.
