Sounds like your trying to just get your truck running. I couldn't find a set at 180.00 more like 250 to 300 each with + shipping add cores.

Here is a set in SC but I am not sure if it is the right set for you. Them seats on heads before 69? Might figure new ones in any case. By the way how much have the machineist been quoting you for the head rebuild if you find a good set?

. Them seats on heads before 69?

It does not matter about the year of the heads. All factory FE heads had the soft seats. They were designed for leaded fuel. Now, if somone replaced them,(the seats) with hardned ones, that's a different story. Hopefully someone replaced the seats before all the other head wear issues described earlier took place.

I should have said 1972 (if we are talking only about hardned seats) and only D2TE-AA heads. As I recall and as installed on my 73 360 my D2TE-AA heads are from the factory and my 360 which is a FE, unless Ford is a liar they came with Induction Hardned Seats. But as some have stated induction hardned seats should be replaced on a rebuild anyway if they show any kind of real wear and if you stay with heads from 69 up you will stay clear of early head/header mismatches as some of the earlier heads were still in production to clear inventories. When I pulled my heads they were in good shape. 360's are tank engines!

All heads starting with the D2TE-AA had induction Hardened Valve Seats.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
Casting numbers will denote the decade, year, application (car or truck) and production changes. Ex C8AE-6090-H, C = 60's, 8 = 68, A = Ford part, E =engine part. 6090 = production part number for heads, H = 8 levels of changes made to design. Also parts will have a date code. The D2TE-AA heads are 72 heads hence the D2. The TE is truck engine part. 6090 the head part number and AA the level of changes. It's common for these parts to have a later date code than the part number as they were often used for years before any changes we made to call for a new casting number. The C8 and D2 head are the "GT" style port design. Often reffered to as medium riser port style but have been corrected as they are not true meduim riser design like the 427 MR heads. They are the late 66 and up design.
