Okay maybe this doesn't belong here ? Okay awhile back I asked about a lot of codes I was getting . Well I found I had a bad module . Seems the diode shorted out and sent 12 volts to the module and scarmbled it . Now this a 92 E 350 with over 200,000 miles on it . Well my problem was fixed with my blinking OD light . Now it will shift hard in the first 2 gears . The shift points are right on just harder than before . Could this be a reman module or did I burn out the shift solenoids due to increased voltage to the transmission ?
Shift solenoids can't control how hard the shift occurs. Mushy or neck snapping shifts have no effect on how the shift solenoids operate, its either on or off.
Firmness of the shifts are controlled primarily by the electronic pressure control valve. This is a solenoid, but its active whenever the transmission is running no matter what gear its in. Maybe that was damaged but I can't say for sure.
The EPC solenoid (electronic pressure control solenoid) is located on the solenoid body with the rest of the shift solenoids. However, I'm not really sure how often they go bad and if it were off, it would affect every shift, not just 1-2 and 2-3. I don't even know if there is a way to test it.
