E4OD and Performance Tuning...
So, I shelled out almost 3 grand and had the Ford Dealer install a new (2001) E4OD tranny in my 91 bronco and was wondering if anyone with E4OD experience had tried any valve body/electronic tuning mods such as "http://www.baumannengineering.com/e4odcat.htm" these. Like the valve body kit and the programmer.
I know you might be thinking "damn why not just rebuild your 91 E4OD"; well, the pre-95 models were ****. If you rebuild them, you'll only be rebuilding them again and again and again. They pretty much perfected the E4OD from 96 on.
Anyone played with their E4OD's at all that can provide some input as to whether or not the money in valve body/electronic shift point tuning modules are worth the hassle/money or not?
I'm running 4.10's, lockers, and upgrading from 33's to 35's and a 6 inch lift. I'm happy with the engine but the shifting is 1.) spongey as hell and 2.) It shifts at too low of an RPM range after changing tire size/gears.
I've gone to manual shifting the thing when I'm actually focused on my driving because the shift points are always too early no matter how hard the throttle. Any info on E4OD performance tuning would be appreciated.
p.s. I split the T-Case and pinned the chunk so it doesn't bang the case, so hard shifts shouldn't be a problem in 4wd. Any info on tranny/T-case relationship when firming shifts is welcome too.

I'm hunting for some manuals myself....2 Rebuilds to date....shifts hard....Trying to confirm where the speed sensor is located on an E40D
91 Bronco 6 " front suspension 3" , Bushwacker fender body cutouts, 9" springs in the rear.
10.25" F350 91 rear end with 5.13 gears from Randy's ring and pinion with ARB air locker (easy swap and great brakes)
Will probably put a straight axel in front...don't go with IFS
ARB pull bar and 12000# wench
Oh 38" TSL radials.......could go to 40-44 with cutouts
Let me know if you find any manuals etc...
