BTW for anyone who cares I decided against getting the bike. My little lady doesn't want me to (too dangerous apparently?) and I can put the money towards other things I need like shocks. I need shocks badly.
Dave the boss (dad) says he's interested in taking a look at the least. I wasn't sure what town your new house is in though.
Pete, I live in Stratford, and I'm afraid the idea is on hold.
Daugher was okay and was able to walk a way from kissing the guardrail
Unfortunately the Expedition is in intensive care and we are waiting to hear the prognosis.
From the Expedition's perspective this could be the Kiss of Death.
The Lord was merciful, there were no riders with her nor other vehicles involved. She did it to herself.
Now I can really trust her on the motorcycle, as previously she 'knew' the limits of the Expedition, and now she has discovered the limits of her talent.
Interesting that the former dealer's shuttle car's airbags didn't go off
She took out the grill and bumper right back to the radiators across the entire front of the Expedition
Dave any good bit will work.
Make sure you hold on to it. A drill with a side handle will help a lot, also use a slow rpm.

The saw edged Forstner bits are usually high quality enough to leave smooth edges, Most larger sizes have them because a continuous rim would produce too much friction and then start to swell in the hole.
(Ever wonder why large hole saws bind so badly? They are expanding in the hole due to the heat they create. Their large diameter means that even at slow rpm's the speed at the cutting edge is high)
I believe you're thinking of a plumbers Self-Feed bit. And you're right, these will produce some tearout, especially on the exit side.
The lead screw also makes it difficult to control the depth unless your drill has a brake.
But a forstner style bit has a spur and not a screw at it's center.....
