Jim:

Its the once every month run the units for an hour just to exercise the equipment.

We do this when we haven't received a dispatch to generate during the past month.

So you only have demand it the summer when people are running too much A/C, or when the grid fails?
I have heard those generators working during heat waves.
I have to thank you for the fact that the 3 phase at my shop was never out for more than a half hour since Y2K.

Jim:

The last time we were dispatched for need was last January.

With the recession and the new power line that comes down here from Middletown there has been no need for us to run.

As for the lineman out restoring service, the company I work for and the owners of this station have no involvement with that.

I didn't mean you had any involvement with local outages, just that if there was a a network failure I imagine your station would be called up to provide for the immediate area.
(that is your purpose, isn't it?)

In the event of a regional blackout, yes we are one of the stations that can black-start, and then feed a base load station so that it can start up.
