Don't use FTE parts guy. Use partsguyed.

FTE parts guy was originally Ed's setup at Parr Ford. They were doing some things that were less than appropriate business-wise so Ed went off to millennium (y2k) Ford and is back under the name of Partsguyed or y2kfordparts whichever one it is now.

You WILL NOT get the same customer service out of ftepartsguy any more so don't order from them.

Plus Ed's a great guy and will do you right as far as customer service and pricing.

Hmmm, thanks Jim, I'll watch to see if Pete takes a nibble at this.

The area has fill in it and I don't know how far down the ledge is, so it could be easy digging.

I'll have to post some pictures of the decorative boulders I want moved from one side of the driveway to the other as they likely will dictate the size of the machine.

howdy. I'll talk with the bossman about it and see what he says.

We've got a Deere 490 w/ thumb on it so it could handle any digging/boulder moving. I don't know if it'd fit under your low clearance bridge or not though.

Roughly what size hole are we talking about? (width x length x depth) Are we talking about just dig a hole and leave or do you want someone to backfill over the tank when you're done? It'd be helpful if I knew exactly what it was you wanted done. If you want it done before next spring you'd best start moving on it or you'll be trying to rip through frost and that's no fun at all.

Also are there any access restrictions aside from the low bridge? That includes inside the yard. ie: wanting it in the back yard but the only way to the back yard is above the septic system

The bridge clearance is 12'0" and I've been told by my neighbor that for the larger machines, the contractors would trailer them to the bridge and then ride the machine through the underpass and then get back up on the trailer to finish the trip.

The hole of course has to be larger than the tank, the 1000 gallon tank is 16' 1-1/2" long by 41" in diameter. I am not sure how deep they are buried so that their 'conning tower' just breaks the surface.

Yes I wanted it backfilled with what was excavated out of the hole in order to raise the yard, and then stone-dust over that as a future bed for asphalt.

The relocating of those boulders will also serve as part of the retaining wall for the additional fill over the propane tank along side that vernal creek. That creek is already channeled by dry laid field stone.

As for restrictions:
  • Well you might be able to do most of the digging without leaving the driveway.
  • There is a vernal creek that flows right along side the location and the propane person is checking into whether its a 'protected wetlands' or not.
  • The house is right there too, so part of the big dig is to re-pier the two 6x6 posts for the upper story room. I don't know if the cement base for each pier is on ledge or fill, but the fill has definitely subsided around the piers.
  • Blasting away the ledge is not an option, so if a ledge pick attachment doesn't cut it then demo cement.

Dave that's a lot more than just digging a hole. That makes for bringing a dozer and excavator along likely. Gets a bit more spendy as soon as you start talking about stone dust and grading and all that. Very different from just digging a hole.

Like I said I'll talk to bossman we're busy with the Wallingford composting center right now so I don't know if he'll be interested or not.
