I realize I may have put this thread in the wrong spot, and forgive me, but there are 2 places my Dad will visit in the next 24 hours... MY HOUSE IN BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA (mostly to visit ME, & a hair less to go to TALLADEGA), and this site! And I just want him to know a couple things... ONE, I love him more than words can say, and TWO that I can't thank him enough for all the teachings I've learned over the years of how to fix things, how important preventative maintenance is, really just about life & it's trials and tribulations in general.
I'm sure he would have loved to have a son, as I often don't know what he's talking about when it comes to the truck and all, but I can tell by the enthusiasm in his voice that it's "FRIGGIN' TIGHT" (or he just says.. "WHEW"). I just can't WAIT for him to get here, as I only see him twice a year. He left south FL bout 5am, so I expect him to show up at the bar I work at around 4-ish where I LOVE TO SHOW HIM OFF! Just know he LOVES THIS SITE! And I want YOU to know Daddy, there's NO BETTER DADDY THAN YOU! (and all you other Dad's ROCK I'm sure).
Love to infinity and beyond,
Your Daughter,
Alisha

OH, HOW COULD I FORGET....
The PACKERS are gonna give That #4 in a PURPLE jersey just another reason to never mess with us! GO GREEN BAY!
(ok, I'm kinda talkin' smack now, he's an amazing QB, but Dad and I got big plans for Sunday after the race!)
Moderator and others: Thank you for letting me leave this message of love here for him to see!
Awesome post!! It's great to see this kind of relationship. I really enjoyed reading it and tell the old guy he's one lucky guy to have a kid like you.
Alisha, as a man with two grown daughters, I wouldn't trade them for a son. They were great fun growing up and I just treated them to the opportunity to learn to hunt, fish and work on old trucks.
Now they are both married and I have two son in laws and 5 grandsons. Life doesn't get any better than that.
Alisha, Thats a very sweet thing to tell your dad! Your dad is a lucky man to have you in his life. I don't know what it is, but I have 2 teenage sons and when we get together its just the guys talking about the old trucks and stuff. But when my daughter comes over and takes an interest, it just makes my day! BTW: I'm sitting about 2 miles form the racetrack stuck at work wishing I was over there right now! LOL. You know the parties are gonna be off the hook! Halloween at Dega!
Hey Alisha,
Great post, I have a daughter and a son both in their early 20's and still at home, my daughter spends more time "out in the shop" than her brother does. I love it when either one does.
The first thing I noticed when I opened this thread was your avitar and the Packer hat, I don't know if I've ever been more nervous about a game as I am about Sundays, I don't know why cuz we will prevail.
Have fun at the race.
Mark
I have two daughters also...........19 and 22...........both in college. I was going to build the 53 for my youngest, Reyna, to drive to High school.....yeah right!........now shes a sophomore a ASU and the truck in not even close! We did manage some quality father/daughter time with the ol 53 though..........and in retrospect it was worth it all. I still lurk these forums and continue to formulate the exact "plan" for this old truck. Maybe someday if I'm lucky..... I can give it to a grandchild. Life is good..........but daughters are lifes greatest joy.

Bob ,of all people you should know how to spell St . Brett's name , you only live just over an hour away from the Hallowed Grounds of Lambeau .
Brent, it's a joke guys. It's just telling him we're already forgetting about him. A lot of these shirts popped up around here after he let and started making an a$$ out of himself.

Ah ok! I was wondering if it might be.
It's hard to forget him with all the press fuss he always gets.
Great post!!! I'm seeing it in the other light.....how much I miss my Dad. He left us over 11 years ago and not a day goes by that I don't think about him....and yes, sometimes miss the heck out of him. He was my best friend and I'm proud to be his son. (And let me tell you, he would just LOVE my old truck! Now he's just admiring it from above.)
