Ehsan you are looking at the PCM from inside the cab. The picture Robin showed is of the PCM and wiring harness from under the hood. The PCM goes through your firewall and hooks up to it's electronics there.
Its easier to pull off the wiring harness to see the PCM # than by removing it completely.
and just found out mine was made in 8-28-98 ??? and its a 99? dealer said it was xle4 he didnt see any xle8
Yep -- you have an early-bird. Chances are it's XLE-4, but it only takes 5 or 10 minutes to make sure. 10mm bolt on the connector on the firewall, and two 7 or 8mm bolts holding the PCM in on the inside. That's all it takes to pull it, if you don't have a flashlight & mirror. Just make sure your keys are out of the ignition when you do it...
EDIT: Oh, and don't lose that little metal clip. It's important -- that's how the case of the PCM is grounded.
Taking the PCM out now will give you practice for if you get the chip. Like Joe said, be sure to have the keys out of the ignition when messing with the PCM.
Also Eshan just so you know, in order to install this chip the user has to cut a hole in the black box that houses the PCM. The chip sticks out too far to fit in the black plastic housing.
Great offer! Reps sent and there's nothing wrong with small hands!
I'm constantly bugging my daughter to help me work on my truck where my XXL hands won't fit
