I guess the older trucks are a lot shorter than the late 60's and 70's. I'm not saying the 70's trucks have tons of room, but everything does fit and I have seen much of it (if I remember right - no IC) fit in a 65 as well.

Oh dont get me wrong.I like having an engine that will pull most anything I will ever need to move. And yes one would think plenty of room. After all 65 fe application is very much like a 70's bay.The big difference is that a 70's can have the ic in front of the rad support I think. The 64 unfortunately has absolutley zero room between grille and support.I need to get this farther back together and reevaluate the situation.
Hopefully my mustang and cyclone will sell soon and I will have the room to get this all in one place!

What did you use for the mount that attaches to the block?? Were they already with the motor?? or are they a custom one?

actually those are the factory y block mounts. The rubber parts that is.They are through bolted so I used them. The perch part from the original front engine mount with a bit of fabrication to relocate it to the desired location was used up front.Once it goes together the final time I will replace the used ones with new ones I think.
A friend of mine thinks they will transmit too much vibration to the truck so I am waiting to see. Then I will replace them.

Sorry,I just read the question again. The metal parts on the engine cam with it from the fedex van.I just made them work rather than trying to reinvent the wheel.

AND I sold the cyclone today! Now I am getting some room to work

The 70's don't have much room at all and it takes a bit of cutting on the grill to get the IC in there. There is a reason I made a custom core support for mine and much of it was due to fitting the radiator, IC and AC condenser all up there!

I've seen a few (at least 3) people with the IC in front of the stock grill on these trucks so it can be done, and I'm sure takes a bit of grill cutting/shaving.

My core support was a mix of the previously mentioned as well as the "drop center" hood I am running requires modification to the stock core support to run that - so with all factors involved I just built one from scratch.

D'oh - by "these trucks" I meant my style 73-79 not your early 60's trucks. Just re-read that and didn't mean to get your hopes up

I am getting stoked again about this project.I did get the cab out in the shop where I can get back on it.
If there is any way to make the ic go out front I will make it happen.Otherwise I do have room engineered into it already but would gladly up the fan size with the extra room.

So far I have sold my 23 model t speedster,67 cyclone GT,66 mustang gt...ALL so I can get back to business on the truck! I cant wait.

THe question is should I go ahead and get the cab dipped.I had it sandblasted in all the hard to reach places but dont feel it is derusted well enough....

Thanks for watching,Hope to be able to show some progress soon!

you're a better man than I... I keep looking at buying more stuff and brining on more projects rather than selling some and focussing on finishing like you are!

WEll.....I have eliminated some projects lately.But I still have this project,41 ford 2 door sedan that is getting a 4.6 drivetrain from a 97 lincoln.and a 64 fairlane project also(retirement project).But I am not adding anymore projects.

I have an 18month old little girl and an understanding wife. They deserve my time and I only have so much garage space !

I need to get this cab up off the floor to make it easier to work on.
I wonder if saw horses would hold this thing?
