It looks like they answered all your questions other than something about a tie rod. I read your post several times and cant figure out what you're asking... Explain please
I to am unsure of what you need to know. As far as the trans, my best guess is c-4 behind a 302. Like said count the bolts, look at the pan, and the bellhousing. Pictures are like gold. Helps us to see what you are working with and know what has been done. There is a thread a few down on how to post pictures. Actually very easy to do. Guide: Posting Pictures from Photobucket
1) any good website and info on 4x4 ford vans
2) any places that sell parts for said vans
3) anyone who could send me some pics of their same year van so I can figure out what I am missing etc. (front clip, interior, dashboard etc.)
4) any helpfull advice dealing with these brutes (ie the brakes wear out quick, etc. etc.)
1) can't help there, Google maybe
2)Parts house/junk yards, as long as you remember what the part came from. Gets confusing sometimes remembering that

4)can't help there
JC Whitney for all Auto parts - Car, Truck, Jeep, Motorcycle & RV Parts sells general parts for the vans. as I posted earlier, you have to post pictures of your frame and such so it can be determined if you have a van chassis, early Bronco chassis, etc. We need a photo of your front end and linkage too.
Without that it is all guess work. Some of the parts might be custom built anyways.
3) anyone who could send me some pics of their same year van so I can figure out what I am missing etc. (front clip, interior, dashboard etc.)
Most people do not have 4x4 of the earlier model vans. There is at least one though in the gallery, plus, you can search the gallery for earlier years.
4) any helpfull advice dealing with these brutes (ie the brakes wear out quick, etc. etc.)
4 wheel drum brakes stink, especially in ice and snow.. Before you get too far into repairs you might think about swapping the front end out for a Dana 44 straight axle with disc brakes and swapping out the master/booster too.
