"Where y'all from?" Cedar Mountain, Transylvania Co.
Reporting in from Cedar Mountain, 13 miles outta Brevard. I'm definitely closer to SC and Caesar's Head State Park, than Brevard. Home is on the end of a small semiprivate lane, no neighbors to look at from my house. Ain't it great? I've got my own private 100 yard target range to enjoy. Have a fair sized creek with small waterfalls bordering the property as well. The bears stop by our front yard almost daily in the summertime, turkeys in the fall, coyotes, deer, and more squirrels that I can count. You know that you're rural, when you give directions to your house, which include the neighbor's Treeing Walker coon dawg kennels as a waypoint!!
I come off the mountain here, an average of once every 2 weeks to "go to town."
I'm not as bad as I might seem, though. Used to fix broken jet aircraft, licensed Airframe and Powerplant mechanic. Business jet aircraft as in Learjet, Lockheed Jetstar, Cessna Citation, Hawker, Sabreliner, etc. Definitely an industry which took a loooong, deeeep dive into the toilet. But, life goes on...
My truck is a 2000 F150XL 4X4, 5 speed, black, 81K miles, 4.2L motor. Bought it used 2 1/2 years ago, and it's in better condition now, than when I bought it. Replaced tires once, a water pump, and that's it, other than normal maintenance. I really enjoy the truck, and find that it's "well balanced" for the wide variety of conditions that I drive it through. I work it hard when I need to, and baby it most of the time. It gets its share of mud, though...old logging roads and the like, I really enjoy.
