If you are trying to save a few dollars I would forget the hardner, that stuff is the most expensive part, and it can make the paint chip easier. I don't know of any implement paints, there are cheaper bases, usually acrlic, and urethane are the cheaper, but your paint shop can tell you that. All impement manufacturer colors are usually available in a multitude of bases. There is a large selection of color options.
I think you will be satisfied with the adhesion of any of them a long as you do a good job of cleaning all the loose dust off before spraying. The lower grade bases just fade faster and are not as rich in color.
if i had the money to throw away in case it didnt work i would try the trick of heating it up. what would be an option that would be about the same price that would last longer then
appreciate the link. ill take into consideration. im thinking just going with the implement paint at my local rural king since id like to get it finished by this weekend as im tired of not being ably to drive it and i got to replace the clutch in my other truck
I used van sickle paint for my jeep! It is oil based. I sprayed it about a year ago. Did not use hardner in the paint just reduced it with mineral spirits thinner. I wet sanded it then put an automotive clear coat on it and it shines like a beauty! looks the same today as it did right after i painted it. I would do it again with no questions. I've repainted 3 of our john deere tractors with van sickle too
