Hello I own a 2002 explorer it has around 84000 miles, we have been having a problem with it now for awhile. Just about every morning when you start it up first thing it sits there and chugs like it is missing and about to stall out. Once you put it in drive and take off it will do it for a few more seconds and then it quits and for the rest of the day it is fine. Except the next morning it will do it all over again. Does anybody have any idea or suggestions?

 

Try pulling the codes. There may be a code stored even if the CEL is off. Consider doing a tune up and/or cleaning the IAC and MAF.

 

mar has a good idea. your not using any antifreeze are you? level is full?

 

does it start up quick or take several seconds to startup? leaking fuel regulator will cause blead off overnight and long cranking, poor running the next day for 10-20 seconds.
