06 Explorer FOB and key pad program
Good morning All!
My buddies wife just got a nused 06 Explorer (Eddie Bower). She wants to program the key pad on the door and wants to get some FOB's and program it as well. I am going to keep signed in so she can comunicate with you all about these projex. If it involves wrenches and "guy work" my buddy and I will do it. Thanks in advanced for the quick responses.

You need to have the factory keypad code to change that code. If you don't have the code and have checked the usual places such as a card in the glove box, written in the owner's manual, etc., you'll need to gain access to the remote keyless module and there will be a white sticker on the module with the 5-digit code. With that code you can program a person code, but the factory code on the sticker will also continue to work. If you're not sure where to find the module, search this forum as the locations by model years have been posted several times.
To program new fobs, you will need to follow the steps outlined in the owner's manual, starting on page 110. Following the Fob programming instructions on instructions for the keypad, starting on page 112.

I'm not sure of the location of the Remote Keyless Entry Module on the 2006, which is why I suggested you search the forum. On my 2004 it's located behind the right (passenger) rear trim panel. CarMax might have a scan tool that can read the keypad code through the OBD-II port as well.

I can't find the module. I have searched the forum but didn't get any real help. I have searched under the passenger side kick plate and only found the Sirius module (radio). I looked behing the plastic on the B pillar and C pillar aswell as the rear plastic corner panels. I only found a speaker on the passengers side. Any other ideas?
Thanks

Thanks Shorebird!
This is my message to Tylus: Tylus, someone has sent me your name and volunteered your services. I have afriend who has a 06 Explorer with no keyless entry combination. I have been told the combo is on the Remote Keyless Entry module. I was also told the module was underneath the rear passenger side seatbelt mechinism. I have had EVERY piece of plastic off this vehicle and I don't see it. I see in the place mentioned above a speaker with a module connected to it. It says it is a ASM module then I saw another very small dohicky that has 2 wires going to it and there is 1 on the drivers side as well. Is it possible that there is a key pad on the door but the option was never installed? then I added this link

having technical problems...but I finally found the info
You are looking for the Smart Junction Box (SJB) which is on the drivers kick panel by the e-brake.
There will be a white tag with the 5 digit code. Not sure which side though. Hopefully it is on the outer side...but you might have to get a mirror and check the inner edge
