Help Correct Fuel Pump?

Hi,

I bought this fuel pump and I just have a feeling that it isn't the right fuel pump for a 272. I bought it from LMC (prt # 43-4715) all it said was a fuel pump for a '57-'65 Ford V8 Fuel Pump. I called them up and they couldn't tell me anymore than I already knew. The slip that came in the box said that a pump arm that has a sharp bend in it fits a 221, 260, 351, 289, and a 302. And the pump arm that looks like the one pictured (a bump and a bend) fits a 352, 390, 468, 360, and a 410.

For me that raised a red flag. But I have no clue. The pump that came off of my original 272 looks more like the one with a sharp bend in it. It's like if you took the bump off the one picture and ran the two lines together and you get a sharp corner.

Does anyone know if infact that this pump does work on a 272?

The pump pictured will work fine in a Y. The FE and Y block pumps use the same arm.

Usually, vacuum lines on the fuel pump power vacuum wipers.

One side goes to the vacuum wipers as Charlie stated, The other goes to the intake manifold. The purpose of the vacuum pump is to provide vacuum to the vacuum wiper motor during low intake vacuum situations such as when you are going up a hill or accelerating. You can tell which one goes to the wiper motor with the engine running by putting a finger over the lines. The one that sucks on your finger goes to the wipers. If you don't have vacuum wipers don't worry about it. The fuel pump will still work for you.
