Spent all Sunday driving from Buffalo to Albany and back (600+ miles) with my stock 6.4L 2008 F-250, light cargo and no trailer at 70 mph both ways. 17.4 miles per gallon (both the computer and hand calculated agreed)
Which is way better than my 2000 F-250 V10 did last year on the same trip (it got 12.5 mpg)

The truck is basically a stock crew cab Lariat with the 6.4L, 20" rims/tires. Nothing special. Not sure of the gear ratio. All I've done to her is change the oil and I had the TSB done that included a new CAC, air filter and new firmware for the computer.
I had a tonneau cover on for half of the the trip (to Albany) and the bed was full of bulky college student furniture on the return trip (back to Buffalo).
Not to jinks myself, but she runs like a champ - pulls strong, smooth and relatively quiet. I was expecting some Diesel hastles once the cold weather set in, but even at 10 degrees F this last week, turn the key, wait for the glowplug indicator to go off, and she starts right away - every time.

I don't know if the door sticker will say the gear ratio without giving a code, but if you get around to it look at it. I would be curious. Your mileage is on the very upper end of the scale from what I have seen from other people with the 6.4. If you do a tune and intake I am sure you will get a couple MPG's more.
Just for the heck of it I played around with Ford's "build your own" thing online. For the 250's they don't let you run a diesel with anything other than a 3.55. I don't know if it was different in 08, but my guess would be the gears in your rig are either 3.55 or 3.73.
On the same token, the 350's online wont let you select over a 3.73 with the diesel without going to a DRW. You can select a 4.30 with the V10 only. Weird. The same gears (3.55 to 4.30) are available on the 250 too, just the diesel is only selectable with a 3.55. The 350 will go up to 4.10.
During the non-winter months I consistently get 15 mpg and have seen 17+ mpg on long trips at interstate speeds.
12 mpg was standard on both of my old V10 Excursions. After several $100s on mods (intake, exhaust, plugs, etc.) I was able to get a whole 14 mpg out of my last Excursion.
So all in all I'm pretty satisfied with my mileage, especially with this heavy of a truck. If I wanted only mpg I would have bought a Prius (LOL)
Anybody know what the horn on a Prius sounds like?

I checked the sticker and the gears in the 2008 truck are 3.73 Limited Slip. The 2000 F-250 truck was 4.10 Limited Slip. Both are SRW, shortbed.
Also, both trips were 98% on cruise control and just one or two bathroom breaks.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, in September I pulled our travel trailer to Ithaca and back for a weekend camping and got 9.8 mpg. The route had us on Route 20A which goes over hill-and-dale.
It's just one set of data points amongth many sources.
2010 f 350 ccsb 4x4 3.55 gearing 20"wheels. 4000 miles averaging 16.5 mpg all around. Completly stock and ready for 1st oil and filter change, I am so happy with this truck, my doge hemi got 12-13.
8.5' fisher stailess v plow droped it down to 15.2 mpg after about 3hrs of plowing 6" powder

Hope fully they will give you the orginal sticker. You can also look at the door piller when you open the drivers door.
The label should have an axle code and then we can tell you.
