After going through my truck, (1977 f100) there were ants living in the headliner and behind the dash.
I got them out of the headliner, but they are also living in the insulation against the firewall.
What can I use to replace this?
I assume I need something heat proof or resistant. I'm not concerned about replacing with an OEM style unit.
I'd rather just get something from home depot or lowes that I can apply to the firewall. I don't mind ordering something online either.
Any suggestions for this?
look in evilbay under "dynamat" insulation i used this in all 3 of my trucks works great easy to apply and realy quiets down the noise as i did every thing inside [roof, doors floor ect]

I used the insulation that looks like a bubble wrap with a silver color on the outside that I bought at Menards for my 75 firewall. I used carpet tape and the original rubber inserts to hold it in place. Used my original insulation as a template. Pretty cheap and a lot lighter. It is supposed to reflect the heat. I usually drive mine in the winter and still was pretty warm last winter when it got down to -35F. My heater works pretty good. Used it on my current project. My 73 thunderbird firewall also. Probably not as good as the dynamat but was good enough for me.
If you need more "insulation" than sound deadining, you can also get the roll automotive insulation, the batting type stuff with the silver cover on one side, and cut it to fit. It's not that expensive and you can actually cover things a little better than the factory depending on how involved you want to get. Best would be the Dynamat covered with the roll insulation.
I purchased some insulation that is made out of recycled plastic bottles. It is silver foil material on one side and the other is like synthetic felt. It's about 1/2 inch thick. I have done the door panels and the headliner, and under the dash and around most of the heater and ducting for noise. Easy to cut and is great for sound and heat. It's call Thermozite and many places carry it. I searched until I found a local supplier and stopped by their warehouse and bought a big roll.
