ive been told i might have split shots in my 97 and others have said they didnt run splits in the 97's. i was wondering if anyone knows for sure whether they are single shots or split shot?
If your truck was bought new in CA, then it has AB Split Shots.
Best way to know is to pull a valve cover and read the top of the injector.
Or, look in the valley of the motor, in front of the turbo, on top of the fuel pump would be a large saucer shaped thingy if you have Split Shots. This is a fuel dampner that the Split Shot trucks used with the mechanical fuel pump. They went to an electric pump in '99 for the Splits.
I was "blessed" with a Cali model, fruggen shiggen fraggal mudder shuddel! but it is not that bad. I believe the Cali models are split and like jim said....find your fuel pump and if it is a Cali model it will have a black disk on it w/Bosch written on it (mine did). This will also come in play (I think if you ever replace the PCM or have a program written for it, someone will correct me if I am wrong.
