How do I know if my truck has the positraction rear diff. I know I have to add a friction modifier to the fluid. Also where could I buy the friction modifier, is it a dealer only item or is it available from the aftermarket.

You can tell which diff you have by reading the door sticker or off of the tag on the diff itself. On the door, mine is H9 or 3.55 LS. On the diff mine has two tags, one identifies it as the 355LS and the other states the need for synthetic fluid.
Our trucks require a synthetic lube and most of them already have the friction modifier in the bottle. Read the bottle on the brand you choose, chances are you will not have to add anything to it.
If you go with ford synthetic youll need a bottle of friction mod. That what I did and have had no problems since putting the wrong gear lube in before. After draining and adding the ford synthetic plus some friction mod. all my rumble strip sensations quickly went away.
