hi i was just wondering if a dana 60 under the rear of a 1968 f100 4X4 is rare and if they are much better than the nine inch you see under most f100s, also what gear ratio do they come with

Are you sure it's a Dana 60, and not a Dana 44 rear axle? *
1967/72 F100: The Dana 60.3 (with/without Limited Slip) was an option.
The 60.3 is a semi-float rear axle, not the same rear axle as a Dana 60 full float rear axle.
Dana 60.3 axle ratio's:
Without Limited Slip: 3.54-1 / 3.73-1 / 4.10-1 / 4.56-1.
With Limited Slip: 3.54-1 / 4.10-1.
The Dana 60.3 uses the same 5 lug, 5.50" bolt circle wheels as the 9 inch.
------------------------------------------------------------------------ * All 1959/67 F100's, some 1968 F100's: When Limited Slip is present, the rear axle is usually a Dana 44.
You could not get a 9 inch rear axle in an F100 with Limited Slip until midyear 1968.
I pulled a 60 out of a 67 F100 this summer with the 3.54 locking setup. The model number (44 or 60) is cast into I think the lower right corner of the rear of the housing. There should also be a tag with the ratio on it attached to the cover.
