Remote Start

A friend of mine has an 08 Chevy 2500 Duramax and he has a remote start on his truck. Is it possible to have one on a 04 6.0L Diesel. Would it be safe since you have to wait to in the on position before starting it?

The CodeAlarm I have has a delay that can be set especially for diesels. Most remote starts have that option, but be sure and ask before you buy.

Some also have the option to tie into the wait to start light, but the Ford doesn't have a dedicated signal wire, it's through the data bus. So you just have to have a delay programmed. I turn mine off in the warmer months, but will have to turn it back on soon.

Either way they are both aftermarket, just one is sold and marketed by ford. I also think if it's installed through the dealer, the Ford one is covered under the warranty. Last I heard it was manufactured by code-alarm. Neither one will give you an integrated delay tied to the wait to start.

did you mean 'either' instead of 'neither'?
above sounds like dealer installed DOES get connected..

the aftermarket ones are alot cheaper. i think they all come wit ha programable delay for diesels. Dont worry about the wait to start. its going to delay the start anyway. mine is 7sec befor it cranks. if it dosnt start it will try again. only once has mine needed to crank a 2nd time. by that time the glow plugs will be warm. But if it has a delay featcher use it 20sec is good.

Hve the oem Gold remote start...
it is aftermarket, installed by a third party on mine...

has worked super for 5 years....

MY only complaint - wish I had gone aftermarket and gotten the two way key fob so it would acknowledge when the truck got the signal.... if the signal gets to the truck, it starts - every time.... I just never know if I am out of range or not and have to wait until I see or her the truck start....

Having a remote go out a half mile is no good if you are uncertain if it started or not

neighbor has the lil led that shows a smoking vehicle when it starts - too cute !
