Like the title says, I don't have running lights on the trailer when the head lights are on, brake and turn lights work. Dose anyone have a pin out diagram for the factory installed receiver? Any fuses I can check? I am leaving tomorrow afternoon and would like to get this fixed before I leave.
Do you have current goin through all of your lil connectors? And did you make sure there is no gunk or dirt in your connector? A small rock would block any current. What kinda condition is the trailer wires in and your truck wiring? Any small cracks in either wiring? Are you using an adaptor for example a 6 pole round to a 4 flat? Wish I could do a pin up for ya but I dont have that kinda archive built up just yet.
There's a separate fuse for the trailer running lights, left turn/brake, and right turn/brake. 10 amps each IIRC. On the 01's, its in the fuse block under the hood. Take a quick peek at your owners manual for the fuse location.
Andrew, all your fuses are under the steering column on the 02's. Like Trevor said, there are three separate fuses for the trailer lights. Check them all. Do you have a fuse diagram? My truck had all of them blown when I first bought it. Also be sure to check for cracked or bad wires on the trailer especially an open ground. I had a wire rub on to the frame of my ATV trailer and kept on blowing fuses until I found it.
You might want to take a test light to each pin to see if you are getting power. It is easier with a helper to go through the switch positions as you are testing the pins with the test light.
If you are getting power to each post then you will need to check the grounding of the trailer.Test the lights at the trailer with the test light as well...I have three trailers and there is always some mysterious light issues.Hope ya get it going.
Yep, Andrew's truck has all the fuses under the dash.
Unfortunately my wife is out with my truck right now hauling some stuff around, otherwise I would take a quick glance at my owners manual to let you know which fuse to check. If you have the owners manual, check that real quick.
If the fuse is good, start checking the trailer wiring. Might be a bad ground somewhere.
Andrew, if you are still having problems later on after checking the fuses, I might be able to stop by your house this weekend and hook my truck to your trailer. If the running lights come on with my truck, then we know it's something going on with yours. If the lights don't come on, then it's the trailer.
Thanks for updating this Dan, the drive up went well, and I did get the running lights working. This is the first time I have had Internet access up here, it might be my last.
