I'm not very familiar with 94's, but what I'd suggest is find out what hoses are leading where and then see what you can do about rerouting them. If you bought it used then it's possible someone replaced them and didn't bother to route them the way they were originally.
As for the air pump, it depends. If you don't have a cat then it's not doing you any good, but if you have emissions inspections in your state then I'd leave it there for appearances. You can gut the pump and keep the shell so it's there for appearances but also so you don't have to hassle with finding a different belt.

I really don't get it either,,, I'm wondering if the drive around with the hood up so all the world can see the wonderful job they have done on the "clean-up"

I completely understand the whole car/truck show comment. I take my Mustang to those type of things. I just don't think I would remove all that stuff from a truck that is running good. Most of the time it causes problems.
