running board pics

I am finally getting back to work on the 48 f1 and I set the boards on today and they dont seem to line up to the cab or the brackets . Does anyone have pics of how the boards line up with the cab. Also does anyone have advise on putting the front end together and lining it up . I have new fiberglass fenders without mounting holes and I bought this as a project in pieces so I am just looking for help to speed up the process. Thanks for any help .

Hopdfully your running boards have the mounting holes predrilled but anyway put the nose all together but do not tighten the bolts, you can line everything up to meet your specs and then tighten all bolts then drill the fenders, both front and rear and bolt them together or atleast this worked well for me, later Garry

A while back I found NOS running boards for my '48 and guess what? Even though the old ones didn't appear to have absorbed much structural damage, when I went to position the new running boards in place they didn't sit flat, and also a couple of the square holes in the new running boards didn't exactly line up with the holes in the support brackets. I briefly considered heating and trying to straighten/align the brackets but that would have been a job because they're really heavy gauge steel and to the eye it was hard to tell which brackets were off and which were OK. So instead of doing all that I used a burring bit to sufficiently elongate the holes in the brackets, and I used stainless steel spacer washers where needed in between the running boards and brackets so the weight distribution would be OK. Worked out fine. Once everything got painted underneath, nobody would ever notice.

I gues I must be lucky. I installed fiberglass fenders and boards. Clamped them in place and drilled all the holes and they look right.

I own a 55 and not a bonus built, but, " It's Gotta Look Good" seems to be the theme, and mytbtruck looks pretty good to me...

I would think that there are some specs somewhere for aligning the cab to the frame, then the front-clip to the cab...then the running boards to the front clip/fenders,..then with the bed installed..butt the rear fenders to the running boards..but thats just a wild guess...and the way I would try things without any instructions..remember " It's gotta Look Good! "..several pairs of vise-grips to clamp things in place temporarily should help. Roll the beast outside onto a level area and walk around it..from about 20 yards away... should give you an idea if things are really out of whack. Too close ,and you won't be able to detect the straight-lines...or mis-alignments.
I hope someone with more insight can offer up some help..Good Luck!
