the only problem i see with that is that its pulling cold air and pushing it across the exhaust valves and thats not to good. i guess i could remove the tube from the old pipe and mark it and try to install it in the right place.
I can understand your worry, but my tube just hangs there also. I would worry about cold air getting through the exhaust rather than the tube for the emitions system here. Thats just my opinion. What do you guys think??

Heya
I agree, like I said mine has been hanging there for a while now, no problems as of yet. How far up did you cut yours? Does it rapatat against anything?
Hey Ty, I asked you somewhere else but I don't think you ever answered me? I'm not sure. Anyway, does your 50 series Flowmaster sound any deeper than your 40? I wouldn't mind going to a more quiet muffler if that meant making the truck sound deeper.
My truck sounds almost exactly the same only a little quieter with the 50 SUV than it did with the Super 40. I have 3 inch pipe from the front cat back to the muffler. Basically what is really different is the reduced interior noise level.

Thanks man, I appreciate the info. I don't want my truck to be more quiet if it's not going to sound any deeper. If it would make the truck sound deeper, then sure.

Get a sound clip
It might make the I6 sound deeper, because it will loose some of the higher noise frequency sound.
Since my truck is a 5.0 it sounds different and is hard to tell what it will sound like on yours. I know that when I had my old truck with the 4.9 and had a regular 50 series, I liked how is sounded and alot of people thought it was a V8. In my opinion that is the perfect setup for the 300.
well i ordered the exhaust pipe from checker, the one that eliminates both cats. now i need to figure out what muffler, seems the flowmaster 50 is a good choice. checker carries mangnaflow. im sticking with the single pipe end and dont want a loud sound. guess i could go with the $38.00 stock replacement muffler. which mangnaflow would compare with the flowmaster 50 series.

My next Flowmaster muffler will probably be the 50 series, then. I guess I'm finally growing out of the "LOUD LOUD LOUD" stage and just want something that's loud when I floor it.
Thanks again man, appreciate your imput. By the way, did your 4.9 have cat converters with the 50 series?

Hotrod, let me save you a little heartache. I heard a 300 with no cats and a factory muffler before. It sounded horrible. The truck sounded like a Honda. I strongly suggest you go with either the Flowmaster or Magnaflow, or something similar. -shrug- I think it would sound good with a medium length glass pack, and that's the cheapest route.
glad to hear that some one has heard one without the cats and the stock muffler, and good to hear that it sounded awful, before i bought one and found out the hard way. they do have a cherry bomb thats the same length as the stock muffler, 24". but now would the 24" cherry bomb give me a louder sound than the flowmaster 50 ? also i need to find out which maganaflow is the same as the flowmaster 50. what i kinda of like about the magnaflow is there stainless steel, at least the ones at checker here are.
ive been reading other post talking about a glass pack, hard to believe that a glass-pack would sound good on these trucks but every one seems to agree, it sounds good.
I couldn't tell you about a 24'' glasspack, but I used a 31 or 32'' Thrush pack and it was quiet. It made noise when I accelerated or if I was under load but by and large it sounded very quiet. It did sound good. It sounded tough. Just too quiet for my taste. I say the 24'' would probably be a safe bet, Hotrod.
EDIT: IMPORTANT
I forgot to add when I ran that 32'' pack I also had a high-flow Magnaflow converter, which also acts like a muffler. You better go with the longer 32'' pack if you want it to be quiet.
i wont be running any converters. so i look into the 32". well checker only carries the 26" cherry bomb. they also carry magnaflow but hes says there are all the same muffler, straight through. when you say 32" are you talking about the glass pack section or the overall length. there 26" is 31" overall.
Advanced Auto carries a 32'' overall length glasspack. It's a Thrush pack, which is better than Cherrybomb's. It costs roughly $30 and it was quiet on my truck.
