well in all fairness to the planet, i am gunna have a cat on it... it will be a high flow one tho... thanks for the advice bill i will probally take that route. i will start off with the new y pipe, and high flow cat straightpipe, then with a glasspack, and go from there.
I'm glad you're going to be one of the few people to actually listen, lol. I wish we lived closer, you could listen to my truck and see if you like the baffled sound. I think you'll probably go for the packing sound, that's what it sounds like you want. Like I said a glasspack is a LOT cheaper than a Mag. The Mag I bought for the V6 was $80, I believe. A big glasspack is $30. I imagine a short pack is cheaper yet.
So far from what I've seen nobody seems to care for my particular sound, but the weird part is one of the best sounding 300's I've heard ran a Flowmaster too. -shrug- I think more people seem to go for the packing sound.
how much pressure should i feel coming out of the tail pipe. i have an old ****** jeep with a 350 sbc and dual exhaust, rear exit, and glass packs with stock manifolds. if i check one side, at the rear, it puts out a lot more pressure than my 4.9.
My dad's 350 seems to put out about twice the pressure mine does. He has true duals, baffled mufflers, gutted cats. I have a gutted cat, dual out baffled muffler, 2.50'' piping.. I think my dad's piping is 2.25'', I'm not sure.
The 350 is a bigger motor with a bigger cam plus two more pistons. Of course it will be pushing more air. Right??
after looking under my truck again i see that the front cat has dual inlets and single out to the second cat. i dont think it would too easy to have a bypass pipe made for it. im looking for a off-road kit. i also see that the summitt kit connects the two pipes really close together whereas mine separate all the way down to the front of the cat. has any one found a direct bolt on the separates the two as much as stock. seems to me the stock setup of separation length is better than the aftermarket exhaust.
I like the sound of my previous truck which had a 300. I had a 50 series Flowmaster on it. If you go the glasspack route definitely go with the longer one it will sound better.
I agree that question marks do make a port much easier to read.

Hey Ty, I asked you somewhere else but I don't think you ever answered me? I'm not sure. Anyway, does your 50 series Flowmaster sound any deeper than your 40? I wouldn't mind going to a more quiet muffler if that meant making the truck sound deeper.
ok i found a exhaust from checker, no cats. it does have the bung for the O2 sensor but nowhere to connect the smog pump tube. do i need the tube from the smog pump connected or can i just cap it off.

Mine just hangs there, it's not even capped off. It's been that way for a long time and so far no problems.
the only problem i see with that is that its pulling cold air and pushing it across the exhaust valves and thats not to good. i guess i could remove the tube from the old pipe and mark it and try to install it in the right place.
