Uh...is it a belt-driven fan or does it have a fan clutch on it?

Are the bolts tight? Any bends? Pulley ok? If they all are ok, it's your water pump.

so it was, just ripped it off, thanks for the help! awesome site. so another Q related, how much play is ok on the pump? I took the fan off and spun the pump and no gritty or smashed bearing feel i can wiggle the arm around like 1mm or so. (the arm is the shaft thing that the fan and pulley attach to)

I wiggled it and then it started leaking so figure the seal or bearings were bad, for 40 bucks no reason not to replace it. THanks!

With the engine OFF use both hands and wiggle the fan blade back/forth.

If there is ANY play...AT ALL...It's time for new waterpump.

yup, that's what I had, Thanks to this fine forum in helping detect the problem before it blew up on me. I just finished replacing it and smell like orange clean!
