by typing a 4 (no such VIN engine code) instead of the Y.Don't like the net HP figures? Wait till you see the gross HP figures! It has everything to do with the new Fed Emissions Standards.
The HP race that began in the mid 1950's was just about over. The era of multi HP engines (and Muscle Cars) was coming to an end.

I have a 4 speed trans. and i found online hp was 215 and tq is 375. I must have a different motor and trans. then original, guess its a good and bad thing. good for what i want, bad for being restored original, which i planned on doing. hp rating must been underrated for insurance or something. my 5.7 camaro, has less *** then that truck. i also have red interior bench seat, limited slip rear. independent front suspension.

The NET HP is all that is listed on Warranty Plates thru 1972. After 1972, nothing is listed....at all.
Your truck's Warranty Plate lists: 157 NET HP @ 4,000 RPM for the 360 2V.
I do not have the GROSS HP figures for a 360. It was listed on the air cleaner decal as original, but I don't have a truck w/a 360 engine.
Here are the GROSS and NET HP figures for 1965/67 F100/350's w/a 352 2V: GROSS HP: 208 @ 4,000 RPM / NET HP: 172 @ 4,000 RPM.

In sales brochures, advertisements, and etc, auto manufacturers always list the GROSS HP figures.
But when the engines are dyno'd, the NET HP figures are known.
Here are some examples of late model pickups GROSS & NET HP figures from edmunds.com.
2004/2008 F150 Super Crew 5.4L (330 cid) 24 Valve SOHC V8 / GROSS HP: 300 / NET HP: 242.
2007/2008 Nissan Titan Crew Cab 5.6L (339 cid) 32 Valve DOHC V8 / GROSS HP: 317 / NET HP: 291.
During the HP race that began in the mid 1950's, automakers always OVER-estimated the GROSS HP figures, and the same thing is still being done today.
