Hello men, its been a while but my computer crashed and I have just been reading at work and not posting (is that bad?) So now I'm on my sons computer cause I have a question and I haven't been able to find a satisfying answer with the search option. So here goes.
Last week my water pump went out and that scared me into installing a temp gauge. I bought a three gauge set so yesterday I went ahead and put in the volt gauge and oil pressure gauge. While testing them the oil pressure will read 40psi at start up and while going down the road at highway speed but idle will be about 15psi. Does that sound ok?
When I searched for the answer people said up to 70psi cold idle and down to 5psi hot idle.
Thanks,
Long lost Joe
I second that smokey, Dave is definetly the goto guy. Your oil pressures are almost exactly like mine. I did find out a few weeks ago when I changed my water pump and radiator, had a small leak, that on a long run it stays hotter but takes longer to warm up. Ford gages are just for guessing.
