Ball joints aren't bad at all. Just take your time and have a torch handy. I put lots of pressure on them and then would hit them with the rose bud on the torch. When they start getting warm, watch out, they make a huge bang when they let loose. It will take you pretty much most of a Saturday and a case of to finish the job. Very do-able if you have the right tools. Impact (to speed up the process), torch, and ball joint press.

Thanks, I know how to change them. My question was how do the people who are running them like them?
And I use it break loose the ball joints and also to take off the 4 nuts that hold the hub on. Pretty much everything.
I'd never recommend doing that. I've already learned my lesson rushing things with air tools. Never again. My ball joint press specifically says not to use an impact gun on the tool.
Thanks again for the reply's. This mechanic was really giving me the run around. Finally got him to tally everything up and it came to $1100. Called Bumper to Bumper and they are on sale now. $250 for two upper and two lower, plus another $200 for vacuum seals and dust covers. $700 savings, priceless! I really appreciate the help guys.
$ 450 is not a good deal at all. you can get a complete set of high quality ball joints and seals here:
You can do them in a weekend. I did with some help with from my father-in-law. The first side is always the hardest, but once you do a side the other side goes twice as fast.
I ordered all my parts from Ed www.partsguyed.com he has a complete kit for ball joints. Great guy to deal with.
You really need a balljoint press to do this. I rented mine from Auto Zone. Do a little research for ball joints and XRF and you will get a ton of info. I have other links for ball joint replacement, let me know if you need them.
