Ok got curious about this so went out and checked my spare blocks, the 67 block that came out of the galaxie has 3 bolt mounts. Both of the truck blocks (1 360 out of a 74 F150, and a 390 out of I think a 72 but not 100% sure on that) have 2 bolt mounts BUT when you take the mount of you find the block has the provision for the 3 bolt mount SO even though the application uses a 2 bolt mount the block is interchangable.

I just checked. I have a 69 and 2 71 pickups. All have 2 bolt mounts. The f600 down the road with a 361 has 3 bolt mounts.

Like I noted in post #17 it might have the 2 bolt mount but the block may be setup to use the 3 bolt too. that was what I found on the blocks I have in the shed even though they have the 2 bolts on them if you remove the mount you can see the hole to put the other style on.

The changeover was '65, but the newer blocks don't have 3 bolt holes, they have 4. the 2 new holes are farther back, and wider spaced- the originals are close-spaced, adjacent to the freeze plug. I've never seen all 4 used at the same time, usually 2, sometimes 3. The mount pictured is indeed a later pickup mount, not an early Galaxie mount, and uses the wide-spaced holes- although there was a flat early Gal mount that somewhat resembles it, using the narrow-spaced holes, and the holes are offset to one side- just went out and looked at an original '63 390 out of a Gal in the shop that still has the mounts on it. There were actually two completely different early Gal mounts, with different perches on the crossmember- the flat one, used with a tall perch, and the thicker C-shaped one, used with a short perch- like on my '62 406 car. I used those (pictured) mounts to put the '64 427 in my early '77 F250 highrider, changed the perches from the 351M ones to FE, and made a flat-stock adapter plate that bolted to the two narrow holes on the block, and the two wide holes on the mount. I also have an oddball 427 block, a C5AE-A, a new for '65 casting that's a pre-side oiler, but has the 4 mounting holes. I don't believe the 4-bolt pattern had much to do with strength for "trucks", as was said, FT's usually mount front & bell, and if you call pickups "trucks", well, 406's, early low risers, and high risers all had 2-bolt narrow-pattern blocks, would have been stressed a lot more than Gramp's F250, and I've never heard of an FE block breaking at the mount bosses- although the newer setup would definitely be stronger

MeanGene427 - I am glad to see your post. I had my 360 original engine out of my 69 F100 recently and replaced it with a 67 410. Both had 4 engine mount holes, and only two were used. The mounts from the truck looked just like those on this thread.

Just got it back from the machine shop so i hope so. thanks giovanni
