After having it out for 2 months while prepping and painting the cab I decided to get a new windshield instead of using the 44 year old one with scratches. One place wanted me to bring the truck in... impossible. Another simply didn't want to do it. Third place came out and finished up 1 hour ago. I supplied the NOS gasket from 1985 with the chrome strip. Took them a little push and pull to get the chrome lined up and into the frame it went. Watched as the guy pulled the rope bit by bit while the other patted the outside and it went in flawlessly. So nice to look out a brand new windshield. A couple of photos of right and left plus the paint detail in the upper corner on a two tone.
It's only easy when you know how to do it. I've seen it done several times but I'll still pay the experts on this job. Back windows I'll do all day long though.
The antenna was out for painting and for the windshield install. I found the antenna several years ago but the base was another story. Given the slope not just any base would work. Took about one year to find the right base, NOS also, last year on eBay.
I love the look of the chrome trim around the windshield. Mine doesn't have that, but my windshield has a small star crack, center near bottom. It doesn't interfere with my view, but it doesn't look great either. Plus the scratches and wear of 44 years, so like you, I'll be looking to replace it one day.
Just curious if I could go with the shiny trimmed gasket at that time? I realize I'd need to find the trim.

Sure, you just need to get the chrome and then the windshield gasket w/strip and you're set...
i already hav d black rubber with slit thru it. i went to junk yard today after seeing ur message but the 1985 truck i found d trim is rounded on top side and bottom corners are sharp
Yea'' what Number Dummy'' said!! you have to buy the stainless trim for CC and gasket
for the trim'' they make 2 different windsheild seals, one for use with trim, the other, not
with trim! if you go that rout, just make sure you buy the gasket for the trim..
I picked up a set of CC trim mine was missing too, but haven't gotten around to putting it on yet. I've got a few small stars I'd like to get rid of too, but cash priorities always seem to keep getting in the way.
