With the TorqShift, there's no need to change the internal filer.... it only keeps the giant-sized particulates of the system. So now, you only have to replace about a pint (ok, maybe 2) after the flush is done! So have the dealer do the flush and BUY the external filter and change it yourself! Unless you have ALREADY abused the system, what's the dif!?
I have to disagree with you as I just changed my internal filter. It's alot more than a screen will an element like the air filter that traps the smaller particles with a bypass. I don't have the external filter so the internal filter is a major piece at around $80.
If you do NOT have the external filter, I agree with you....BUT, I thought all TorquShifts had the external filters!
they did a change...my 06 gasser had only the internal...with the 08's they went back to the external for job 1's and then went back to the larger in pan only internal.
So for 08's somewhere between the job 1 and 2 they decided the internal was better and then they also increase the interval for service to 60K.
Wow I dont know what to do now, I going to bring my truck to the dealer to get the fluid changed but now Im thinking am I just wasting money? I only have a little over 25K miles on it and I dont tow or haul anything. What do you guys think?
Thanks ~Gage~

everyone needs to go by what is in your owners manual. There are differences in the required maintance throughout the years the tranny has been around.
I'm going to change my external, drain the pan, fill er up, then wait a few weeks and drain the pan again. I'm not gonna flush it as I think I remember reading somewhere on here where if you wait and start flushing one after about 50,000 miles on it it's actually detrimental. Now don't quote ME on that. I'm just repeating what I saw. Don't shoot the messenger. It very well may not be true. But for now, with as little as I tow, I'm just going to change my external and do a couple of drains/refills. I agree that the ones with the external filter need more frequent maintenance. But the internal filter in the newer models IS more expensive,
