steering problem
Hope this info is useful. Monday the old girl began steering hard to the left, binding like a bad steering box. I've been down this road with bad axle u-joints before so yesterday I got a chance to get under it with a jack and check things out. Well everything was tight, u-joints weren't frozen and the darn thing steered ok on jack stands. today I had a friend look at steering as I turned the wheel left, He said "holly crap, your steering box is about to fall off!!! Turns out the bottom bolt holding the box on was broken off! The damn thing was rusted, so its been like that a while. Luckily I was working ia a steel mill and was able to get a hold of 3 grade 8 bolts to replace the old ones. I was able to make the repair on the spot! My point is don't play around with steering problems! That bolt could have got me killed if the other ones would have failed! when checking out steering problems look at everything! Hope this helps. by the way she's a '02 v-10 with 238K on the clock and I drive thru some really caustic roads in the steel mills.
