Engine oil temp

I was wondering what the normal operating engine oil temp is. This weekend while towing up a grade it climbed to 216 and the AC stopped blowing cold. As soon as I got to the top of the hill temps droped back down to about 197-200 and the AC started blowing cold again. Is this normal? My trailer is only about 6000 lbs. My truck is a 2000 Crew cab 7.3L diesel with 4inch lift 35 inch tires and DIY napa 6637 filter and zoodad mod.

216 isn't a problem at all. That sounds normal. At like 240-260 the pcm starts to limit ICP.

How are you monitoring it?

Actually at 215* (EOT) the fan clutch kicks in and starts pulling more air through the radiator. When this happens the PCM disengages the compressor clutch on the AC. It all happens within preset parameters that the PCM takes from the EOT(engine oil temp) sensor, the EBPS (exhaust back pressure sensor) and of course the spring inside the fan clutch expanding and engaging due to heat.
So, yes, it is normal.

I have the 192* 'stat, and I've never seen my EOT above that. But I'm not towing either...
