2006 F350 6.0 Powerstroke. Towing my 5th wheel, going flat roads, AC normal but as I climb hills, I start loosing cool air and it starts blowing warmer. The water and oil temps stay within 15 degrees of each other ( ECT 230 max - EOT 247 max). It seems the warmer the engine oil temp, the warmer the AC. Cool air recovers as I go down the hill and EOT cools.
I checked and the AC condenser is in front of everything. Just can't figure this one out.
The PCM is using your heater to help cool the engine? That's the only logical explanation I can come up with! Monty is wagging his approval so I must be right....lol
Jim...& fat Monty
230 is hotter than I think I'd be comfortable with. I think I'd check that out as well.
Try using Max A/C. That will close off the coolant flow to the heater core. That might make a small difference.
The only other thing I can think of is that the PCM is shutting the A/C compressor off above a certain coolant temp to try get cooler air over the radiator.

1) The fan was coming on at the right temp.
2) I tried it in manual, no change.
really strange, I can't see the connection between the hills and AC. Not a loose of vac closing mixing doors since a diesel has a stand alone electric vac pump.
I will try max AC next time but I thought that just had to do with fresh air vs cab air.
