what do you guys suggest are the best programmer for an 05 6.0 with about 75k miles?
I would mostly be looking for a little extra grunt for towing and perhaps better mileage for both towing and unloaded. The truck (got it used 15months ago) already came with a AirRaid intake and magnaflow exhaust (maybe 4").
Aside from towing our horse trailer (pretty much 5-6 times a month) i used the truck to commute to work.
Don't really want to do to much: hopefully just a plug and play option, that doesn't strain the engine/tranny.

Something that you are able to get custom tunes to go with it. Time and time again it has been shown that off the shelf tuners(Edge, Bullydog, Banks etc) are not the best thing for the 6.0. People go with them more, because their ad department is good at what they do.

Extra grunt is fairly easy to get with a tuner, however, extra mileage is not. Tuners for the most part are performance enhancers, getting extra mpg is a bonus but not a promise. Having said that, your best bet at better efficiency is with a custom tuner as it would be able to be tailored for you and your truck specifically and it won't be using a "one size fits all" programming.
As to the intake, it really won't net you any performance benefit at all with just a tuner, nor will it filter more then stock.

Just so long as you don't want shift on the fly; that won't be a good thing at all for you engine and/or tranny.
Towing programs focus more on shift points and not much in engine HP. The intake needs to go back to stock, no need to risk dusting the turbo. Call Innovative Diesel and see what they can offer in a tow tune for your application.
also weight of your trailer is a factor. a horse trailer can vary a lot if you think about it, some have multiple horses and some may just be for one pony. let the custom tuner know what your looking for, i would think you would benefit from a 60hp tow/economy tune.

That was true, but most of your horse trailers now are multiple horse. You would actually have to have a custom job or go looking for old trailers to get the single horse ones. Even the 2 horses(one of the trailers that I have is one) are fairly rare due to resale value isn't as high on those as it is on the 3 horse and up.
Now rather or not you have one horse in there or more that will still dramatically affect the weight of the trailer that still is true.
