I know this is my first thread here in the 6.0 forum, but I've been around. I bought my 06 about a month ago or so and began to collect the parts to do the supportive mods. One of the first things I bought was the SCT X4 with JMS EGT probe and threw it on to see what my delta temps were. I came out this afternoon to get in the truck and my programmer is missing . I could spit nails right now!! I wasn't using the programmer for the tunes as much as its ability to double up as a monitor. I thought once the programmer was used on one vehicle it couldn't be used on another.
Yup I hate them too. Whoever stole it can't do anything with it unless they send it to sct to unlock it. The problem is they probably don't know that because the are dill holes. Thieves only care about themselves and don't give a crap about the people they steal from. As far as I am concerned they need shot and get rid of them.
Deductible is more than the programmer's cost. I had it locked last night as I always do, but there's no sign of forced entry. I just had county sheriff here too. He gave me a report to fill out. He said another deputy would be out and then left. When I came out about an hour or so ago to get in the truck, the driver's door was definitely locked because I could see it pop up. They didn't take the radio or anything else.
It just sucks that I'm out not just a programmer, but a monitor and almost $400 dollars. I didn't even have it for two weeks. Which means I've gotta get another one. But I will gladly buy another SCT X4. That thing was fantastic.
I've been in your shoes X3. Burns me up! The fact is these trucks are targeted because they usually have nice stuff inside and they are extremely easy to get in to. They can wedge a screwdriver between the door and the handle and unlock the door with no damage done, (our line technicians do this when they lock their keys inside). Most of the time tho they just jam a screwdriver in the key hole and push down, brakes the handle and unlocks the door.
Thieves if allowed to live, should only be left with their thumbs and pinkies. That way no one will have to help them wipe their sorry @$$3$...
I guess I've gotta get another programmer. If I call SCT and let them know the sn#, do you think if someone sent the programmer in to be unlocked that they would report it or at least refuse to unlock it?
I'll give it a try. I just realized they stole my toiletry bag. I'm a firefighter/paramedic and I work 24/48 so I keep a bag with a towel, wash cloth, etc. with me so I can take showers and brush my teeth while I'm there. Must have really needed a shower.
Watch your local Craigslist and pawn shops. I would say 8 out of 10 times this is how we are able to track things like this. Don't be surprised if you don't find anything immediately sometimes they will hold items for a week or so then post them for sell.
Yup, been scouring craigslist today. I guess Volusia county sheriff has some thing with the pawn shops where they'll be alerted if it shows up. I was looking into getting the parts together to do a remote oil cooler but I guess that will have to wait for a while.
Yea wouldnt expect a hit form the pawn shops exspecialy the shady ones that would buy a tuner with no cable ( assuming they left the cord and just snatched the tuner)
