I have a '79 F-150 that wont fire. when i turn the key all the accessories work and when i try to start it the starter cranks the motor over but dosnt fire. I'm not getting any power going into my ignition coil after replacing the ignition module, the ignition switch, and every fuse. the coil, wires, and spark plugs themselves are brand new as well. the motor is building compression like it should but no power is going into the coil to then go into the distributor. All of my wires are properly hooked up and the connections are good. I'm at a complete loss so any ideas at all would be greatly appreciated.
What brand of ignition control module did you buy? they are grounded through the distributer but some of the cheaper modules (china/taiwan) actually need to be grounded to the inner fender to work, if that's not the case you may have a bad resistor wire between your ignition switch and coil.
its from autozone so its probably a cheap model. i just disconnected the old one and and plugged the new one in. the old one was the original Motorcraft, so how would i go about checking the ground into the distributor or grounding it to the fender?
Just sand the mounting points down to bare metal so the module has a good ground (not needed for the Motorcraft module but it may be needed for your aftermarket module).
