High Exhausht pressure

When im goin up hills pulling a trailer not even anything too heavy (about 5000 pounds) , i have to down shift. I can leave it in 5 gear but then my check engine like and i check it and it says High exhaust pressure. Is there something i can do or add a mod to eliminate the problem.

I have search a little be and i didnt know if this is the "surge" problem?

specs: 02 7.3, bully dog triple dog downloader, 18k dfuser module, 5 inch exhaust, cold intake, on 37's

What rpms are you at when this happens? I know you said 5th gear, but what rpms? Surge is something you usually can hear, and usually in the 1500-1700rpms range.

Your 37s are complicating things here. You have a 5" exhaust, but if you have a stock turbo, the exhaust housing becomes very restrictive in the high RPMs. You can get a 1.0 a/r housing or upgrade to a van turbo with a 1.15 a/r housing. The bigger housings favor higher RPMs and will reduce backpressure and EGTs.

Then he'd have low EBP if it was restricted/plugged.

EBP = Exhaust Back Pressure
EBPS = Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor

k, thank you. Is there a certain housing you would recommend? Planing on getting a bigger horse trailer, and also a toy hauler for two trucks.

If the EBP tube had a small leak, it would give you the symptoms you are experiencing.

Make sure the EBP Valve is fully open when truck is warmed up.

So i checked the codes and i came up with the following

P0470 : Exhaust Pressure Sensor
P0238 : Turbocharger Boost/Sensor A Circuit High

So im thinking the EBPS? Clean it and check make sure it not cracked?and maybe a new turbo housing?
